A pond as fair as
the heavens
These places form a transitional
bridge between waterway and land.
I am like them – melding boundaries, filtering all, mediating the
deluge, in flux, ignored.
We have a bond, wetlands and me. They share their atmosphere with me,
and
I honor this bond by sharing their allure through images.

More about the project:
Sevilla has been interviewing and
photographing preserve monitors, conservationists, planners, civic leaders; some of
these interviews and portraits are part of the WATERSHED exhibit, which
features approximately 200 images of local wetlands. The exhibit
continues to travel, and an exhibit catalog has been published.
Her guidebook to local public access wetlands explains wetland value, gives maps and directions to wetland locations,
and encourages stewardship of the land. She is currently at work
on another wetlands text, a volume of articles co-edited with an
environmental scientist.
Art event opening receptions
featured a new environmental coalition of conservationists, outdoor
enthusiasts and artists, in a collaboration galvanized by an exhibit of
photographic art; bringing this mix of groups together is the beginning
of valuable new synergies. A forum of leaders of conservation
organizations was held for news media. Presentations continue to
give voice to wetland and conservation issues. THANATOPSIS (at
luminguild.com) is the project's new direction-- an examination of the
ruin caused by invasive species, in the forms of plants or humans.
